Montserrat is an interdisciplinary voice teacher and mezzo-soprano singer-actor. She is a native of Mexico City turned Texan. Currently residing in Baltimore, Maryland, Montserrat is a versatile artist with dynamic vocals and stage presence.

Montserrat strives for expressive storytelling and emotional connection in both opera and musical theater. She has showcased her vocal talents in several musicals at the Woodlawn Theater in San Antonio, Texas, with her most recent role being Pablo in Sister Act the musical. Her latest stage appearance was as part of the ensemble in the opera L’Ètoile by Emmanuel Chabrier, produced by the Boston Conservatory Opera.

She teaches voice across classical, musical theater, and contemporary commercial styles; her teaching philosophy being “aim for ease”. As a trilingual professional, she uses her language and interpersonal skills to create a friendly learning environment for all students. Before moving to Baltimore to pursue higher education, she managed her independent studio based in San Antonio, Texas, where she helped bilingual and bicultural students hone their unique artistic perspective and conquer their language barriers. Montserrat places ear training, dramatic interpretation and vocal health at the heart of her teaching for a complete performance education.

Montserrat is currently pursuing her M.M. in Voice and Vocal Pedagogy from the Peabody Institute of the Johns Hopkins University, where she studies with William Sharp. She received her B.M. in Voice Performance from the Boston Conservatory at Berklee College of Music, studying with Dr. Marylin Bulli.
